Ms. Richardson joined the University of Michigan’s Office of the Vice President and General Counsel in December 2005. Prior to joining the OGC, she was a senior paralegal for twelve years at Ford Motor Company where she worked in the Automotive Safety and Product Litigation Department. Ms. Richardson has been a paralegal for twenty-two years and has prior experience in employment litigation, family law, probate and estate law, business law, criminal law and general civil practice. In her current position, Ms. Richardson is responsible for all paralegal duties related to medical malpractice matters pending against the University and health system personnel, including discovery, litigation holds and the preparation of materials for the Claims Management Committee (CMC) meetings where lawsuits and Notices of Intent are analyzed by senior health system members. Additionally, Ms. Richardson is responsible for assisting doctors and other health system employees with subpoenas for trial testimony, depositions and requests for meetings received from outside attorneys, prosecutors’ offices, police departments and other entities. Ms. Richardson also triages the “Attorney on Call” (AOC) issues. Ms. Richardson has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Kean University in New Jersey, a bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies from Madonna University, and has completed her graduate studies in International Business at Madonna University.
