Remote I-9 Process

Completing Section 2 of the Form I-9, requires that a U-M employee or authorized agent personally to review original documents from the employee. In cases where the employee will not be working at a U-M location, please contact the U-M Human Resources Department on your campus to request remote I-9 processing. It is not permissible to direct an employee to have the Form I-9 completed by a third party (such as any notary public or any attorney) on behalf of U-M without prior authorization from U-M Human Resources. All federal Form I-9 requirements apply to the Remote I-9 Process.

Forms needed to request Form I-9 completion for individuals working remotely within the U.S. are available at:  https://hr.umich.edu/working-u-m/management-administration/human-resources-administrative-forms.
